What is the Thailand Pass?

Thailand Pass is an online system for Thai, and foreign travelers to fill in their information prior to traveling to Thailand to ensure they meet all of the entry requirements and to expedite the arrival process. One approved, travelers receive a QR code which will allows them to travel to Thailand (travelers still need to meet visa requirements). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a very helpful FAQ page on Thailand Pass.

Who can Apply for Thailand Pass?

The Thailand Pass is required for all fully vaccinated travelers from the 63 ‘low-risk countries’ listed by the government (see below) under the ‘test and go’ program, as well as those who enter Thailand under the sandbox programs, or who have not yet been vaccinated or received only one shot and enter Thailand under the alternative quarantine program.

Quarantine-free travel to Thailand – Test & Go

Under this program, fully vaccinated travelers from the 63 approved countries are able to travel around Thailand freely once they have passed a Covid PCR test upon arrival in the country.

To qualify for quarantine exemption, you’ll also need:

  • Proof that you’re fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization or by Thailand (kids under 12 traveling with fully vaccinated parents are excempt)
  • A negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before traveling.
  • Thailand Pass QR code,
  • Proof of at least $50,000 U.S. of insurance covering the costs of treatment for Covid (see below).
  • Payment confirmation of one night’s stay at an approved SHA+ or AQ hotel

COVID Insurance Requirement

To submit and be approved for your Thailand Pass, you must have insurance that covers at least $50,000 USD in medical expenses and clearly states that it covers COVID-19.  It must also cover at least the full length of your stay

You do NOT need to purchase insurance from a Thai company. If you purchase insurance in your home country, you’ll need to make sure to obtain the certificate from them a correct format which: includes your full name, passport number, coverage amount ($50,000 at least) and that it includes Covid coverage.

Our partners at AXA Insurance provide full coverage and allows you to generate your certificate immediately, in the correct format, for meeting this requirement. AXA also covers asymptomatic costs (if tested positive, even if asymptomatic, you will be placed in quarantine)  You can quickly get a quote via the button below, purchase the plan, and download the certificate.  It only takes 5 minutes and will meet your COVID Insurance requirement.
